Transition Westcombe and Friends of the East Greenwich Pleasaunce are having an orchard planting, cider libation-ing, festive singing event on Sunday 5th December 2010 at the East Greenwich Pleasaunce near Westcombe Park station.

Planting: 11:30 to 1.15, followed by speeches and cider
Location: south-west corner of the fenced dog-free area
Afterwards the Friends of EGP will have a carol festival with mulled wine and Santa, and the park cafe (Pistachios
) will be providing refreshments.

Apparently classes are already running at 164 Eastcombe Avenue, Charlton, SE7 7LW but next year a purpose built cookery school will open near the Marks and Spencers, at 13 Old Dover Road (Royal Standard part of Blackheath) http://www.blackheathcooks.com/ 020 8269 1331
The next course (that isn’t fully booked) is Bread Basics, 19 Nov 2010, 6.30-9.30pm, £30 which involves making cinnamon breakfast buns, focaccia bread and classic brown and white yeast bread.
Coming up this Saturday near the Greenwich-Charlton end of Blackheath (as opposed to the Lee-Lewisham end) is the Westcombe Society’s Dickensian Christmas Bazaar.
